Bookclub reviews
Welcome to our BookClub page!
We are the Victoria Park Books Kids' BookClub and we are:
Lisa - Year 3
Matilda (Tilly) - Year 3
Rana - Year 3
Sophie - Year 3
Jessica - Year 4
Maja - Year 4
Olive - Year 4
Maddi - Year 5
Nina (Sparky) - Year 5
and Isadora - Year 5
We all live in Victoria Park (except for Jessica who lives in Hockley in Essex) and we go to different
schools.
But we are all avid readers and love our books so much that we get together every month or so
(and drink squash and eat biscuits) and talk about one book which we have all read that month.
We will post our impressions on this page after every bookclub. Some of the books we read will
not be published yet so if you are not a member of the bookclub but just want to know what's good
and perfect for a 7-10 year old girl then you could have a look at what we say
My book report on: How Kirsty Jenkins stole the Elephant.
Its a very exiting book my favourite part was when Dawn,Ben and Kirsty were telling everyone that
they stole the Elephant.
My least favourite bit was when Dawn threw jumpers at Kirsty and Dawn kicked Kirsty
out of Kirsty's room.
I like the way Kirsty has a huge and very creative imagination.
Angela Dawn and bens mum loves makeup and wants her beauty salon to be famous
so when Kirsty wants the allotment Angela makes Kirsty stand in the salon when a
friend of Angelas who is a photogrefer comes round to try and get her salon famous
and help Kirsty get the allotment... Probobly.
Overall the book was brilliant from Olive.
How Kirsty Jenkins stole the elephant is a really brilliant book.
I liked the fact that Dawn and Ben were the kids who had witnessed divorce and not Kirsty because
usually it is the other way around.
Another thing I liked about this book was that Angela (Dawn and Bens mum) was in it.
One more thing that was good was that they all cared about their grandpa's allotment.
I don't really have any bad feedback about this book but I think Mr Thomas and Kirsty maybe could
have been friends a bit more afterwards because I think Mr Thomas just sort of faded out of the
picture.
The best bit in my opinion was when all the police came with all the helicopters and the TV crew for
the news go the first footage of the uproar.
Over all I thought this was a very good book and would definitely recommend it to other people.

How Kirsty Jenkins stole the Elephant
I enjoyed reading this book very much. My favourite part was right at the beginning when Kirsty
imagines she is in a jungle. It made me want to be in an allotment and look up at the plants just like
she did.
I also liked the part where she is at home and she puts on her dad's records very loudly. When she
is in the museum at the end of the story and stealing the elephant it gets quite mad and I thought
she was very clever to get the elephant out into the street.
Overall this book was fun. It made me laugh and I thought that all the children were brave and kind.
