Welcome to Victoria Park Books website
We are a new independent children’s bookshop offering East London (and places further
afield) a comprehensive stock, and knowledge of, children’s books of every description. We want to
advise on everything from a stocking filler for a baby to Keystage texts for schools; from foreign
language editions of classic texts to the latest controversial novel for young adults; from books
for unconfident readers to activity books for long journeys; and more.
This website is our virtual shop window which will merely act as a newsletter with events,
recommended titles, bestseller lists and reviews of titles by staff and customers.
We hope to build up an idea of those titles which our regular customers enjoy so that we can keep
them informed of new titles which might be of interest to them. We want to offer a local and
personal service in the shop itself and eventually online, quite different from the service offered by
the large chains and by faceless online giants.
In the meantime here is everything you need to know to contact us either in person, or via email or
phone. Please do contact us with suggestions for stock, or reviews of things you have read, or for
recommendations. We will endeavour to reply within 24 hours with a personal response to your
particular query.
Although we do specialise in children's books, we also hold a varied stock of cookery books and an
eclectic selection of adult fiction and non-fiction, all of which has been read by at least one member
of staff. It can therefore be personally recommended. We are very happy to order specific titles and
can often obtain books within 24 hours.
We are also equipped to research and order out-of-print titles and titles only published in the US.
